Brexit and the Gradual Disintegration of the United Kingdom

Brexit may well contribute to the breaking up of the United Kingdom. Only a brave gambler would bet on both Scotland and Northern Ireland still belonging to the UK in 2040. These days, two of the four nations that make up the United Kingdom are less keen on Britain’s prime minister than he is on them. The result could be a big threat to one of his objectives for Brexit: stronger internal relations within the UK.
